RINDGE, N.H. (July 3, 2013) – Former Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey standout Anthony Chighisola (Class ’12) was recently drafted No. 1 overall by the Danville Dashers in the 2013 Inaugural Federal Hockey League Draft.

MANCHESTER, N.H. (March 2, 2013) – The old guard and the new guard, represented by senior forward Michael Carr (South Boston, Mass.) and freshman forward Matt Batis (Lakewood, N.Y.), each scored goals on Saturday afternoon for the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team in the program’s first trip to the final round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. However, it would not be enough, as a goal and an assist by junior forward Joe Tebano and a 46-21 shots on goal advantage led Saint Anselm to a 5-2 win at Sullivan Arena. It is the fourth consecutive Northeast-10 title for Saint Anselm.

RINDGE, N.H. (February 27, 2013) – Four days after winning the first postseason game in program history and three days before playing for the first Northeast-10 Conference title in program history, the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team has brought home the largest single-season haul of hardware in program history. On Wednesday morning, the Conference office announced junior goaltender Dave O’Brien (Groton, Mass.) has been named Northeast-10 Goaltender of the Year and Head Coach Jaymie Harrington has been named Northeast-10 Coach of the Year. In addition, O’Brien and senior defenseman Brendan McCarron (Andover, Mass.) have been named to the All-Northeast-10 First Team, while senior forward Roscoe Sweeney (Falmouth, Mass.) has landed on the All-Northeast-10 Second Team.

WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 23, 2013) -- In its ninth appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship, the second-seeded Franklin Pierce University men's ice hockey team was finally able to notch the first postseason victory in program history on Saturday night with a 5-3 win over third-seeded Southern New Hampshire in the semifinal round at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Senior forward Roscoe Sweeney (Falmouth, Mass.), a team captain, scored the game-winning goal and added two assists in the triumph.

(February 19, 2013) – Graduate student forward Anthony Chighisola (Whitman, Mass.) and senior forwards Sean Dunn (Quincy, Mass.) and Roscoe Sweeney (Falmouth, Mass.) each scored a goal in their final regular-season home game at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena on Tuesday night, but the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team was defeated, 7-3, by Westfield State in non-conference play. Prior to the game, Franklin Pierce honored its 12-player senior class on Senior Night.

(February 16, 2013) – Freshman forward Brendan Glynn (Quincy, Mass.) figured on both of the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team’s goals with a pair of assists on Saturday night, though the club was defeated, 6-2, in non-conference play on the road by Brockport at Tuttle North Ice Arena. Junior forward Chris Cangro scored twice and added an assist in the victory for Brockport.

(February 14, 2013) – Junior defenseman Andrew Dadds (Mount Ephraim, N.J.) and senior forward Dino Federico (Canton, Mass.) scored 42 seconds apart in the final 3:29 of the third period on Thursday night to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 victory for the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team on the road at Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play at the Ice Den. The win was the eighth of the season for Franklin Pierce, tying the program record.

(February 12, 2013) – Graduate student forward Anthony Chighisola (Whitman, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal with 45 seconds to play in the second period on Tuesday night, as the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team posted a 3-2 victory over Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. In all, five different players scored goals in the game.

(February 5, 2013) – Senior forward Michael Carr (South Boston, Mass.) scored twice in an electric first period which set the tone on his way to a school-record four-goal night on Tuesday to lead the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team to a 5-2 win over Saint Michael’s in Northeast-10 Conference play at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Graduate student forward Anthony Chighisola (Whitman, Mass.) assisted on three of Carr’s four goals, as the Ravens clinched a berth in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. Freshman forward Nick Potter scored the first two goals of his career in defeat for Saint Michael’s.

(February 2, 2013) – Senior defenseman Brendan McCarron (Andover, Mass.) fired home a slapshot from the point with just 54 seconds to play in regulation on Saturday afternoon to break a 4-4 tie and lift the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team to a 5-4 victory over Stonehill in Northeast-10 Conference play at Foxboro Sports Center. Combined, the two teams had nine players with two points each, but no multiple-goal scorers, on the afternoon.

(January 30, 2013) – Senior forward Roscoe Sweeney (Falmouth, Mass.) scored the tying goal with just 3:07 remaining in a wild, back-and-forth tilt on Wednesday night, as the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team played to a 4-4 tie with Assumption in Northeast-10 Conference play at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Senior forward Keven Meehan scored twice and added an assist for Assumption, despite spending over 12 minutes of the game in the penalty box.

(January 26, 2013) – Freshman forward Brendan Glynn (Quincy, Mass.), senior forward Roscoe Sweeney (Falmouth, Mass.) and senior defenseman Brendan McCarron (Andover, Mass.) built a 3-1 lead in the second period for the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team on the road on Saturday afternoon. However, their work would be undone in the third, as Assumption scored three unanswered in the final stanza to rally for a 4-3 victory in Northeast-10 Conference play at Buffone Arena. Junior forward Ross White had a hat trick in the win for Assumption.
