Carr Carr earned his second career Northeast-10 Player of the Week selection after a four-goal outing last week.

RINDGE, N.H. (February 12, 2013) – Senior forward Michael Carr (South Boston, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University men's ice hockey team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week for the week ending on Jan. 10, as announced Tuesday by the Conference office. In addition, junior goaltender Dave O'Brien (Groton, Mass.) has been named Northeast-10 Goaltender of the Week.

The Ravens played only one game last week, posting a 5-2 win over Saint Michael's at home on Tuesday night. The team's two-game weekend trip to SUNY Canton was cancelled on account of Winter Storm Nemo.

Carr had a night for the record books against the Purple Knights, becoming the first player in program history to score four goals in a game. It was the first hat trick by a Raven since Jan. 6, 2012, when Carr scored three times against SUNY Geneseo; it was also Carr's first multiple-goal game since the SUNY Geneseo contest. Carr became the fourth player in program annals to tally multiple hat tricks in a career. On the season, Carr leads the team with 10 goals and is tied for second in scoring (10-4-14). The third of the four goals was the 25th of his career.

It is the second career Northeast-10 Player of the Week selection for Carr, who was also honored after his previous hat trick. In addition, he was named Freshman of the Week once during the 2009-10 season, after scoring twice in his collegiate debut. The award is the first Player of the Week selection for the Ravens from the Northeast-10 since Brandon Dennis was honored for the week ending on Jan. 15, 2012.

O'Brien made 39 saves against 41 shots on goal against Saint Michael's to pick up his fourth win of the season (4-4-1). On the season, he has logged 543:41 in net, or 47% of the team's minutes, and owns a 2.98 goals-against average and .926 save percentage, both team bests.

It is the fifth career Goaltender of the Week award from the Northeast-10 for O'Brien, who was honored once last year and three times as a freshman in 2010-11. He is the second Raven this season to earn the accolade from the Northeast-10, joining senior goaltender Pat Dunn, who was honored for the week ending on Nov. 11.

The Ravens (6-10-3, 4-4-1 Northeast-10) return to the ice tonight, when they host Southern New Hampshire in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. A win tonight, combined with a win at SNHU on Thursday night will allow Franklin Pierce to host a game in the semifinal round of the Northeast-10 Championship.
