First overall pick in the league's inaugural draft

RINDGE, N.H. (July 3, 2013) – Former Franklin Pierce University men's ice hockey standout Anthony Chighisola (Class '12) was recently drafted No. 1 overall by the Danville Dashers in the 2013 Inaugural Federal Hockey League Draft.

The Whitman, Mass., native put together one of the finest individual careers in program history during his time in Rindge. Chighisola left Franklin Pierce as the program's all-time leader in goals (42), assists (t1st with 49) and points (91). He also ranked third all-time with 15 power-play goals.

Chighisola returned to ice for his senior season in 2012-13 after missing the previous year with a knee injury, which almost derailed his comeback attempt. However, Chighisola posted nine goals, eight assists and 17 points in his final campaign to help guide Franklin Pierce to its first-ever appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship game.

Chighisola had the finest statistical season in program history in 2009-10 as he rang up 17 goals, 19 assists and 36 points and helped the Ravens earn a home NE-10 playoff game. Each of those three totals set a new school-record for highs in a single season.

The Federal Hockey League is comprised of teams from the Midwest and East Coast. The Dashers are located in Danville, Ill., and have shown a recent knack for developing players for advancing to the next level of professional hockey, which is the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).
