Franklin Pierce Piles up 14 NE10 Academic All-Conference Selections

MANSFIELD, Mass. (June 29, 2021) -- Franklin Pierce University has had 14 student-athletes earn Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the spring season, as announced on Tuesday by the league office. The selected Ravens were among 113 student-athletes across 10 sports honored by the NE10.

SURPRISE, Ariz. (May 19, 2021) -- The run finally came to an end for the No. 48 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team on Wednesday afternoon, in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championship. The seventh seed at the finals site, the Ravens came up against second-seeded and No. 2 nationally ranked Barry and suffered a 4-0 defeat at Surprise Tennis & Racquet Club. The NCAA Championship is being hosted by the Pacific West Conference and the City of Surprise.

WESTWARD HO! No. 48 Women’s Tennis Punches Ticket to Arizona with 4-2 Win over Stonehill in East Regional Final

FLUSHING, N.Y. (May 10, 2021) -- It was a Herculean effort from a banged up Himani Mor (Sonipat, India) on Tuesday afternoon. Down a set, the graduate student rallied to force a third. Down an early break, and then a late break, and visibly fighting lower-body pain, she rallied both times to force a tiebreak. The tiebreak was never in doubt. Up by a bundle, Mor unleashed one final serve, forced a wide return, and was met with a hero’s welcome from her teammates on Court 2 at the Queens (N.Y.) College Athletic Complex. The No. 48 nationally ranked and second-seeded Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team had claimed the NCAA East Regional title, with a 4-2 win over fourth-seeded Stonehill.

FLUSHING, N.Y. (May 10, 2021) -- The first NCAA Championship win in program history did not come easy, but it did, eventually, come. Four singles matches went three sets, including one which carried all the way to a third-set tiebreak, and the proceedings lasted nearly 3.5 hours, but the No. 48 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team ultimately prevailed in the opening round of the East Regional. As she had in the Northeast-10 Conference title match, graduate student Estela Carra (Logrono, Spain) provided the decisive point for the second-seeded Ravens, as she took a three-set win at fifth singles to finish off a 4-3 win over third seed, host and No. 42 Queens (N.Y.).

PREVIEW: No. 48 Women’s Tennis Ready for NCAA East Regional Debut

FLUSHING, N.Y. (May 9, 2021) -- For the first time in program history, the No. 48 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team is headed to the NCAA Championship. The Ravens will officially make their debut in the national tournament on Monday, May 10, when they take to the court as the second seed in the NCAA Championship East Regional, hosted by Queens (N.Y.) College. Franklin Pierce’s first-round opponent is the third seed and host Knights of No. 42 Queens.

INDIANAPOLIS (May 4, 2021) -- There was no drama on Tuesday night for the Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team, as the Ravens already knew they were in. The program’s first-ever NCAA Championship berth became official though, when the NCAA announced the tournament’s 36-team field. Franklin Pierce is the second seed in the East Region, and will take on third seed and host Queens (N.Y.) in the opening round.

TROPHY TIME: Women’s Tennis Outlasts Stonehill, 4-2, Claims First NE10 Title

RINDGE, N.H. (May 2, 2021) -- Not even the rain could slow down the Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team on Sunday afternoon, in the title match of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. Despite a delay of nearly an hour early in singles play, the top-seeded Ravens prevailed on their home courts, 4-2, over third-seeded Stonehill, to claim the program’s first-ever NE10 title. Graduate student Estela Carra (Logrono, Spain) provided the decisive point, as she finished off a 6-3, 6-2 win at sixth singles, which led her teammates to pile on top of her behind the baseline at Court 1.

NASHUA, N.H. (April 30, 2021) -- For the first time in program history, the Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team will play for the Northeast-10 Conference title. The top-seeded Ravens punched their ticket through to the final round of the NE10 Championship with a 4-0, neutral-site win over fourth-seeded Le Moyne on Friday afternoon. Due to wet court conditions, the two met at the Longfellow New Hampshire Tennis & Swim Club for the semifinal contest.

Women’s Tennis Takes Care of Business, Shuts Out Bentley in NE10 Quarterfinal, 4-0

NASHUA, N.H. (April 28, 2021) -- In just its second all-time appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship, the Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team earned the first postseason win in program history on Wednesday afternoon. The top-seeded Ravens took care of eighth-seeded Bentley in short order, 4-0, in the quarterfinal round. Due to wet weather in the area, the two met at the Longfellow New Hampshire Tennis & Swim Club for the match.

EASTON, Mass. (April 27, 2021) -- A day after the men’s team did the same, the Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team took home the biggest haul of Northeast-10 Conference end-of-season awards in program history. Freshman Maria Penalver Aguilo (Las Palmas, Spain) was named NE10 Rookie of the Year and head coach Peter Arsenault took Coach of the Year accolades, which marked the first two major NE10 awards in program history. In addition, the Ravens tallied nine All-NE10 selections and put a pair of players on the league’s All-Rookie Team.

WALTHAM, Mass. (April 21, 2021) -- On the road on Wednesday afternoon, the Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team closed out an undefeated regular season and laid claim to the program’s first ever Northeast-10 Conference regular season title. The Ravens dealt Bentley a 7-0 defeat, which marked the team’s seventh shutout victory in nine matches on the year.

RINDGE, N.H. (April 19, 2021) – Another day, another shutout for the Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team, which took to its home courts against the visiting Assumption University Greyhounds on Monday afternoon. The 7-0 shutout was the team’s fifth in eight matches this season.

RINDGE, N.H. (April 14, 2021) -- Following a bye weekend, the Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team was back in action for the first time in a week on Wednesday afternoon. The Ravens were at home, and dealt visiting Southern New Hampshire a 4-1 loss in Northeast-10 Conference play.

Women’s Tennis Wins Sixth Straight, Blanks Saint Michael’s, 7-0

COLCHESTER, Vt. (April 7, 2021) – As the calendar turned to April, the Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team carried their strong start into the final month of the regular season on Wednesday afternoon. This time out, the Ravens hit the road to take on the Saint Michael’s Purple Knights and earned a 7-0 win in Northeast-10 Conference play. Three Ravens recorded clean sweeps in their singles matches and the team surrendered just five games across seven matches on the day.

MANCHESTER, N.H. (March 28, 2021) -- The Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team -- ranked seventh in the East Region by the ITA -- was back in action on Sunday afternoon at Saint Anselm. The Ravens needed only about 70 minutes to take care of the host Hawks, as they rolled to a 4-0 victory in the Northeast-10 Conference match. It was the team’s fourth shutout in five matches to start the season.
