Bruce Marshall Named Head Coach of Franklin Pierce Men’s Ice Hockey Program

RINDGE, N.H. (May 21, 2015) – Franklin Pierce University Director of Athletics Bruce Kirsh has announced that Bruce Marshall has been named the fourth head coach of the University’s men’s ice hockey program. Marshall previously spent 25 seasons as the head coach at University of Connecticut, where he ushered the program through its transition from Division III to Division I and laid the groundwork for the program’s move to Hockey East. He returns as a collegiate bench boss after two years serving as an administrator with the Division I Atlantic Hockey Association.

(February 23, 2015) – Freshman goaltender Tom McGuckin (Clayton, N.J.) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie Team, as announced on Friday by the Conference office. He was one of eight freshmen from across the league to receive the honor.

FOXBORO, Mass. (February 18, 2015) – Junior forward Brendan Glynn (Quincy, Mass.) and sophomore forward Connor Mauro (Shrewsbury, Mass.) scored on the final day of the season for the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team, but Stonehill used a trio of power-play goals and a 47-35 shots advantage to roll to an 8-2 win in Northeast-10 Conference play at Foxboro Sports Center. Freshman defenseman Connor Tedesco had three assists and five other Stonehill players had two points each in the victory.

WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 16, 2015) – With its postseason hopes on the line at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena, the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team started strong on Monday night, with two goals in the first 10:03. Assumption had other ideas however, and answered with three goals in the second period and three more in the third to come away with the 6-3, Northeast-10 Conference win. Junior forward Brandon Bete had two goals and an assist to lead the way for the Greyhounds.

(February 12, 2015) – Senior forward Bryan Gillentine (Atlanta, Ga.) notched his first collegiate goal in the first period on Thursday night, but a pair of second-period tallies led to a 2-1 defeat for the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team in Northeast-10 Conference play against Stonehill at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Junior forwards Anthony D’Elia and Thomas Jenkins scored in the win for Stonehill.

(February 10, 2015) – Sophomore forward Brett Oldaker (Canonsburg, Pa.) notched his first career hat trick with eight seconds to play in regulation on Tuesday night to cap a dramatic comeback as the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team scored four third-period goals to rally for a 6-6 tie against Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play at the Ice Den. Freshman forward Kyle Valliere also had his first career hat trick as part of a four-point night (3-1-4) for SNHU.

(February 7, 2015) – Junior goaltender Kyle Moran (Marshfield, Mass.) chalked up a career-best 52 saves on Saturday night, but the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team suffered a 5-2 defeat on the road at Brockport in non-conference play at Tuttle North Ice Arena. Freshman forward Aidan Verbeke scored a shorthanded goal and added an assist in the win for Brockport.

(February 3, 2015) – Saint Michael’s senior forward AJ Pieprzak scored the first goal of the night and added four assists for a five-point night on Tuesday, as the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team suffered a 9-2 defeat in Northeast-10 Conference play at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Senior forward Tim Sullivan (Rye, N.H.) and freshman forward Blake Manginell (Troy, Mich.) scored in defeat for Franklin Pierce.

(January 31, 2015) – Sophomore forward Connor Mauro (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and freshman forward Evan Marek (Enfield, Conn.) scored in the first period on Saturday night, but four unanswered goals over the final two periods spelled defeat for the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team, which fell 5-2 at the hands of SUNY Canton in non-conference play at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Sophomore forward Eric Witzel scored twice in the victory for SUNY Canton to cap his five-point weekend (3-2-5).

(January 30, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team took on a non-conference opponent, the SUNY Canton Kangaroos, on Friday night at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena and suffered a 5-0 loss. Kangaroo freshmen Trevor Yule opened up the scoring at 5:43 of the second period with his first career marker and SUNY Canton would not look back. Yule would be one of three members of SUNY Canton to notch multiple points on the night.

Freshman goaltender Étienne Roy (Saint-Henri, Quebec) piled up 47 saves in defeat for the Ravens, who were outshot 51-12 in the game.

Freshman forward Jonathan Lee (Staten Island, N.Y.) added a pair of assists for the Ravens, while sophomore forward Storm Adams and freshman forward Joe Hawkins scored in defeat for Daniel Webster.
