Football Announces 2020 Recruiting Class

RINDGE, N.H. (February 5, 2020) – With one season at the NCAA Division II level in the books and the next on the horizon this fall, head coach Russell Gaskamp and the Franklin Pierce University football team are proud to announce their 2020 recruiting class on Wednesday afternoon. Football to Host Signing Day Social at The Shattuck on Feb. 5

(January 28, 2020) -- Head coach Russell Gaskamp and the Franklin Pierce University football team are excited to announce the first annual Sideline Sneak Peek, to be held in conjunction with National Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 5. The Signing Day Social will be held at The Shattuck Golf Course beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Football has Pair Earn NE10 All-Rookie Honors

The Franklin Pierce University football team has capped its inaugural NCAA Division II season by having a pair of players selected to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie Team, as announced on Friday afternoon by the Conference office. Freshman defensive back Tyvarius Daniels (Springfield, Mass.) and freshman linebacker Najiere Hutchinson (Neptune, N.J.) were both honored in the league’s year-end awards. The pair of All-Rookie Team plaudits mark the first NE10 awards in program history.

The Franklin Pierce University football team fell to Northeast-10 Conference opponent the University of New Haven 63-0 Saturday afternoon at Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium. With the win, the Chargers improve to 5-3, 4-2 NE10 while the Ravens lost their eighth game overall and seventh in league play.

The Ravens were upended 34-12 by the Yellow Jackets during their homecoming celebrations Saturday morning on Abdow Field. With the win, the hosts move to 3-4, 2-3 NE10 while the Ravens lost their seventh contest overall this season and sixth in league play.

Franklin Pierce University football freshman Tyvarius Daniels (Springfield, Mass.) has been selected as the Northeast-10 Conference Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week the league offices announced Monday afternoon. It is the first time in program history a football athlete has received an NE10 weekly award.

Franklin Pierce University freshman Tyvarius Daniels (Springfield, Mass.) returned an interception for a touchdown as the Ravens dropped a Northeast-10 Conference battle to Saint Anselm College 50-10 Saturday afternoon on Sodexo Field. With the win, the Hawks move to 2-5, 2-3 NE10 and the Ravens lost their sixth battle and fifth league game.

After two weeks on the road, the Franklin Pierce University football program returned home to Sodexo Field and was dispatched 52-0 by Northeast-10 Conference opponent Stonehill College Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Skyhawks move to 4-1, 4-0 NE10 while the Ravens fall to 1-5 and remain winless in league play.

Campanale and Jackson Jr. Have Career Games, Ravens Put Up 27 Points on the Road

Franklin Pierce University football freshman quarterback Drew Campanale (Shrewsbury, Mass.) threw for a career-high 307 yards, three touchdowns and added 72 yards rushing as the Ravens put up their second-highest point total of the season in a 55-27 setback to Northeast-10 Conference opponent Southern Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon on Jess Dow Field. The loss was the fourth of the year for Pierce (1-4, 0-3 NE10) while the Owls (1-4, 1-2 NE10) earned their first victory of the season.

The Franklin Pierce University football program headed out away from the friendly confines of Sodexo Field for their first road game as an NCAA Division II program on Saturday. Pierce traveled to Northeast-10 Conference opponent Assumption College and lost by a 53-6 score. The loss sends the crimson and gray to 1-3, 0-2 NE10 while the Greyhounds improve to 3-1, 2-0 NE10.

RIGHT WHERE SHE BELONGS: Morgan Smith’s Journey from Soccer to Football

The ball sailed through the uprights cleanly, a 20-yard chip shot off the foot of then high school senior Morgan Smith. Smith and friends were down at the football field after school. Nobody else was there and so for fun her friends told her she should try and kick a field goal. Smith attempted and succeeded, but the idea of Smith, a five-year varsity soccer player, playing football was only something that was joked about. But then it suddenly wasn’t a joke, and soon she earned a spot as kicker for South Glens Falls High School in upstate New York.
