NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (November 16, 2019) – The Franklin Pierce University football team was looking for a win as their season was coming to a close, but the NCAA Division I Merrimack College Warriors were just too strong as they dominated the first half en route to a 57-0 win against the Ravens.

In their first year as a competitive Division II football team, the FPU ends their season at 1-10. As for the Warriors, they improve their record to 5-5, in their move from a Division II program to a Division I program.

Out of all Merrimack and Franklin Pierce players, freshman linebacker Najiere Hutchinson (Neptune, N.J.) and junior defensive lineman Gene Brown (Bridgeport, Conn.) were the leading tacklers with nine stops each. Following them from Merrimack is Jake Ragusa with six tackles, and FPU freshman defensive back Brice Brown (Los Angeles, Calif.) with a total of five tackles for the game.

Merrimack dominated the ground game by rushing for 327 yards giving the Ravens no chance to catch up as they only rushed 60 yards in total.

Raven freshman quarterback Drew Campanale (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was 7-of-22 for 55 yards, with a long of 21 yards. He was under a lot of pressure from the Merrimack defensive line, in which he was sacked five times.

Franklin Pierces running back K.O. Gaskin (Lynn, Mass.), rushed for 56 yards on 17 attempts. Wide receiver Sekou Veillard (Davie, Fla.) also had a good game, catching three balls for 39 yards with a long of 21, which was Franklin Pierce's longest play of the day.

While the Ravens offense was put on hold, Merrimack's sophomore quarterback Christian Carter was the leader as he rushed for 93 yards on four attempts, following him was running back Jamari Venter, he rushed for 90 yards on five carries.

In total, Merrimack's Marquis Spence and Christian Carter led the game with two touchdowns each, and the last touchdown came from Caleb Holden.
