Eric Roderick to Step Down as Head Women’s Volleyball Coach

RINDGE, N.H. (March 31, 2025) – After two seasons at the helm of the Franklin Pierce women's volleyball program, Head Coach Eric Roderick will step down from his position, effective April 7, 2025, as announced today by Director of Athletics Matt Johnson.

"Eric has been a dedicated leader for our volleyball program, and we are grateful for his contributions over the past four years, both as a graduate assistant and as head coach," said Johnson. "His passion for the game and commitment to our student-athletes have made a lasting impact. We wish him the very best in his next chapter."

Roderick, a Salem, N.H., native, took over as the eighth head coach in program history in 2023 after serving two years as a graduate assistant under Stephanie Dragan. Over his tenure, he guided the Ravens through a competitive stretch, mentoring Northeast-10 All-Conference Third Team selection Morgan Schmutzler in his debut season.

Before taking over the program, Roderick played a key role in helping the team return to the Northeast-10 Conference postseason in 2022—its first appearance since 2019.

Roderick cited personal reasons for his decision to step down, and said, "The decision to step away from Franklin Pierce University was not an easy one. I enjoyed my four years here, and all the relationships that I've built. It starts with a big thank you to Stephanie Dragan for bringing me to FP in 2021, and to Rachel Burleson and Matt Johnson for the confidence they showed in me to lead the program. Another thank you to all the athletes I worked with over the course of my time as a coach in the program."

A national search for the program's next head coach will begin immediately.
