Field Hockey Falls to Bentley 1-0 in Defensive Battle

RINDGE, N.H. (10/29/24) - The Franklin Pierce field hockey played their final regular season home game, Tuesday afternoon. The Ravens fell to Bentley by a final score of 1-0.  

Score: FPU 0, Bentley 1  

Records: FPU: 3-14 (3-9 NE10), Bentley: 9-8 (8-4 NE10)  

Location: Sodexo Field, Rindge, N.H.  

Date: Tuesday, October 29, 2024  

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The game began as a defensive standoff, with goalkeeper Zoe Noorlag (Amersfort, Netherlands) making an early save in the first quarter. Bentley maintained offensive pressure with multiple penalty corners, but Franklin Pierce's defense held firm, keeping the game scoreless through the first half.  

  • The breakthrough came in the third quarter when Bentley was awarded a penalty stroke, and Emily Crowell converted, putting Bentley up 1-0 in the 30th minute.  

  • Franklin Pierce continued to push for an equalizer, and Noorlag came up big with a save on another Bentley shot in the fourth quarter, but the Ravens couldn't convert any chances to even the score. 

INSIDE THE LINES:  

  • Noorlag made six saves in the cage.  

  • The Falcons outshot the Ravens 9-0.  

  • Bentley had 10 penalty corners to the Ravens' 1.  

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The field hockey team will hit the road one last time in their regular season for a matchup with AIC on Saturday. The game is set for 4 PM.
