Four Different Ravens Score to Earn the 4-2 Win at Home

RINDGE, N.H. (10/23/24) - The Franklin Pierce field hockey team picked up another win this season when they defeated the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College, Wednesday afternoon.  

Score: FPU 4, SMC 2 
Records: FPU 2-13 (2-8 NE10), SMC 2-13 (2-8 NE10)
Location: Sodexo Field, Rindge, N.H.  
Date: Wednesday, October 23, 2024 

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • The Ravens would get on the board first as Rebecca Phillips (West Amwell, NJ) would find Caity Hazley (Kingston, Mass.) for the 1-0 lead in the 9th minute. The game would stay that way for the rest of the half.  
  • The Purple Knights evened the game at the start of the third quarter when Allie Medeiros sent it towards Bridgie Loughlin on a penalty corner to even the score at 1-1.  
  • FPU would respond in the start of the fourth quarter as Abigail Tarka (Natick, Mass.) would send a well-placed ball towards Reese Swanson (Somerset, Mass.) who would take a shot to the left side of the cage to give the Ravens their second lead of the game.
  • Four minutes later, Cecelia Keller (Biddeford, Maine) would take the ball all on her own and take a shot on the Purple Knights goalie and gather her own rebound for goal. 
  • As the game came to a close, the Ravens were sure not to back down. On the start of a penalty corner, Tarka would take a shot on the cage that would be saved by a Purple Knights defender. However, Aria Caputo (Gloucester, Mass.) would be there for the rebound to go ahead 4-1.  
  • The scoring from either team did not stop there. With one second to go, the Purple Knights were able to earn themselves a penalty corner that would eventually earn them a tally on the board at the of the end the game to finish 4-2.  

INSIDE THE LINES:  

  • The Ravens outshot the Purple Knights 18-5.

  • Zoe Noorlag (Amersfoort, Netherlands) had two saves.  

  • The Ravens had 6 penalty corners while the Purple Knights had three.  

UP NEXT FOR THE RAVENS: The Franklin Pierce field hockey team will return to Sodexo Field for their annual senior day celebration. The recognition of the 2024 seniors will begin at approximately 11:50 before their 12 PM start.
