Field Hockey: Ravens' falter against Mavericks

Dobbs Ferry, N.Y- Franklin Pierce and Mercy on October 21, 2023, Mercy emerged victorious with a final score of 3-1.

The game started off with both teams finding the back of the net in the first quarter. Franklin Pierce took the lead at the 10:46 mark, with Silver Clukey scoring off an assist from Aria Caputo. However, Mercy quickly equalized just two minutes later when Kate Ringstad found the back of the net unassisted.

In the second quarter, Mercy took the lead for the first time in the game. Rachel Palladino scored at the 21:15 mark, with an assist from Rieley Fitzgerald, giving Mercy a 2-1 advantage going into halftime.

The third quarter saw no goals from either team, but there were several penalty cards issued. Franklin Pierce's Lily Zavras received a green card at 31:57, while Mercy's Reagan Lane received a green card at 52:49. Kelly Rosenfeld of Mercy received a yellow card at 56:30, and Vicky-Louise Witkamp of Franklin Pierce received a yellow card at 58:42.

In the final quarter, Mercy extended their lead with a goal from Kelly Rosenfeld off an assist from Kate Ringstad at the 49:33 mark. Despite efforts from both teams, no further goals were scored, and the match ended with a 3-1 victory for Mercy.

Throughout the game, Mercy had 12 shots, with 7 shots on goal, while Franklin Pierce had 7 shots, with 5 shots on goal. In terms of penalty corners, Franklin Pierce had 4, while Mercy had 6. Both teams had 4 saves each.

The victory improves Mercy's season record to 7-8 overall and 6-5 in the NE10 conference. Franklin Pierce's record now stands at 6-8 overall and 5-6 in the NE10 conference.
