RINDGE, N.H. (October 30, 2021) -- A pair of second-half goals were the difference on Saturday, as the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team concluded its season with a 3-1 loss at home against Pace in Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field. Freshman Krista Dietz struck twice to lead the way for Pace in the Northeast-10 Conference affair, while junior Meghan Winn (Newburyport, Mass.) scored the lone goal in defeat for Franklin Pierce.

With the loss, the Ravens conclude their season at 3-15 (1-13 NE10) after dropping their final eight games. Pace improves to 13-5 (10-4 NE10) and claims the fifth seed in next week's NE10 Championship.

Saturday was also Senior Day at Sodexo Field, as the Ravens honored senior Feline van Doorn (Barendrecht, Netherlands) prior to the start of the game.

After a scoreless first quarter, it was Winn and the Ravens who opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. After the Ravens earned a penalty corner, sophomore Annie Corbett (Oakland, Maine) sent the ball to the top of the circle for Winn, who launched a shot from there for her second goal of the season.

Pace answered just 2:25 later, in the 24th minute, on the team-leading 18th of the season for Dietz. Senior Danielle Merante deflected a feed into the circle, which got the ball to Dietz, who finished things off with a reverse-stick shot.

Dietz also gave Pace the lead for good on the other side of halftime, in the 42nd minute. She went to the reverse-stick shot for the finish again, and put home an unassisted tally to complete her sixth multiple-goal game of the season.

The Setters created the 3-1 final with a goal with just 2:34 to play in the fourth. Junior Cienna Bosher forced a turnover and put away her 10th goal of the campaign.

Freshman Addy Araneo (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) finished with 11 saves against 14 shots and suffered the loss (3-9) in the Franklin Pierce net, despite her fourth outing of 10 or more saves on the season. At the other end, senior Grace Henderson (13-5) stopped six of seven shots to pick up the win.
