RINDGE, N.H. (October 3, 2021) -- For a team which has struggled at times to find the net so far in 2021, this week has been a coming-out party for the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team. A 3-0 win on Wednesday at American International turned out to be just a prelude to a Sunday six-spot at Sodexo Field. Senior Feline van Doorn (Barendrecht, Netherlands) popped home three of them to record her first career hat trick, while junior Christine Jarowicz (Kennebunk, Maine) added a goal and two assists for a four-point day of her own, as the Ravens chalked up a 6-0 win over visiting Molloy in Northeast-10 Conference play.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 3-7 (1-6 NE10), while Molloy stays winless at 0-6 (0-4 NE10). The Lions have now lost 21 straight, dating to a 2-0 win over Saint Michael's on Sept. 14, 2019.

Franklin Pierce controlled the run of play throughout the afternoon, to the tune of a 34-3 advantage in shots attempts, along with margins of 24-2 in shots on goal and 15-4 in penalty corners. Molloy was unable to attempt a shot until the third quarter, at which point the Lions chalked up all three of their shots in quick succession, off of a pair of corners.

For van Doorn, it was her fourth career multiple-goal game, as well as her first three-goal game at the collegiate level. It was the 12th hat trick in program history, and the Dutchwoman became the 10th different Raven to record at least one. Franklin Pierce's last hat trick had been on Oct. 26, 2019, when Madison Gagnon '20 scored thrice in a 4-2 Senior Day win at home over Pace.

The Ravens got the goal bonanza started with the first quarter's only goal, in the 13th minute. Junior Alicia Hottleman (Mansfield, Mass.) provided the feed from the left side of the circle and found an open van Doorn at the right post for an easy finish on the latter's team-leading sixth of the season.

A three-goal second quarter broke the game wide open. Jarowicz netted her fourth of the campaign, and third in as many games, at the 22-minute mark, when she was in the middle of the circle to push home a feed from the right side by sophomore Silver Clukey (Winslow, Maine).

Just 4:21 later, in the 27th minute, freshman Rebecca Phillips (West Amwell, N.J.) tallied her first collegiate goal, as she teed up a drive from the top of the circle, through traffic, on a corner play. Junior Gabi Sturgeon (North Granby, Conn.) provided the assist for her first career point.

In the final minute of the second frame, van Doorn put away her second goal of the game, as she finished off a rebound at the right post. In all, it was three goals in a span of 9:13 for the Ravens.

Franklin Pierce tacked on a goal apiece in the third and fourth quarters to run the final margin out to 6-0. In the 37th minute, Jarowicz attempted a shot which was deflected up and over the shoulder of the Molloy keeper. The ball may have snuck inside the right post anyway, but van Doorn was on the scene to make sure, as she finished off her hat trick by knocking it out of midair and to the back of the cage.

Jarowicz added another assist in the 52nd minute, when she let a drive fly from the edge of the circle on the right side. Freshman Caity Hazley (Kingston, Mass.) was in the firing line, got her stick to the ball and deflected it home for her first collegiate goal. For Jarowicz, the four-point day marked a new career high.

Freshman Addy Araneo (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) played the first half in the Franklin Pierce net, did not face a shot and got credit for the win (3-3) anyway. Junior MacKenzie Potvin (Goffstown, N.H.) stopped both shots on her cage in the second half to finish off the team's second straight shutout. At the other end of the field, sophomore Ally Saigh (0-6) was under siege all afternoon for Molloy and finished with 16 saves against 22 shots. Freshman Jessica Kofod added a pair of defensive saves along the way for the Lions.

The Ravens will hit the road on Wednesday, Oct. 6, for an NE10 contest at Assumption, which is currently tied for first place in the league. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in Worcester, Mass.
