RINDGE, N.H. (September 22, 2012) – Junior forward Sarah Cebry scored all five goals on Saturday afternoon as Southern Connecticut State defeated the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team, 5-0, in Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field. Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Cote (Athol, Mass.) made eight saves in defeat for Franklin Pierce.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 2-6 (0-1 Northeast-10), while Southern Connecticut State improves to 4-5 (1-1 Northeast-10). Franklin Pierce is now without a goal in each of its last six games, a span of 420 minutes.

Cebry got the only goal SCSU would need on the afternoon 12:11 into the contest, when she netted her team-leading 11th goal of the season. Senior midfielder Erica Fisher took the initial shot from the top of the circle, and Cebry redirected it en route to the back of the cage. Cebry would strike again with just 56 seconds to play in the half on a penalty stroke.

SCSU added three more goals in the second half to create the 5-0 final, with Cebry scoring all three. First, she got loose on partial breakaway, deked around Cote and slipped the ball into the empty cage, just 26 seconds into the period. Later, she would strike twice in a span of 1:46 to cap the day's scoring. First, she took a feed in the goalmouth from freshman forward Bailey McGinnis on the right side and one-timed home her fourth goal of the game. Finally, she stuffed home a rebound with 10:38 to play.

Cote made eight saves against 13 shots on her cage and suffered the loss (2-6) in net for Franklin Pierce. Freshman goalkeeper Audrey Dolloff stopped all eight shots on goal at her end of the field to record her first career shutout and pick up the win (2-4) between the pipes for SCSU.

The Ravens return to the field on Monday, Sept. 24, when they travel to Stonehill for a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at W.B. Mason Stadium in Easton, Mass. Franklin Pierce next plays at home on Saturday, Sept. 29 against Adelphi at 11 a.m.
