DesPres DesPres was among three Ravens named to the Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll this week.

RINDGE, N.H. (November 9, 2010) – Freshman back Renee DesPres (Skowhegan, Maine), junior forward Tia Levins (Manchester, Maine) and junior goalkeeper Brittany Nyzio (Attleboro, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team have each been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Nov. 7, as announced Monday by the conference office.

DesPres anchored a defensive unit that allowed just 3.5 shots on goal per game and did not allow a goal during two shutout victories last week. The Ravens allowed seven shots on goal in a 2-0 win at Saint Anselm on Tuesday before allowing just three shot attempts, and none on goal, in Saturday's 6-0 win over Saint Michael's.

A true freshman, DesPres is one of just four Ravens to start every game so far this season. She has one defensive save and is part of a defensive unit which is tied for second in the conference in shutouts (7) and is allowing less than two goals per game.

Levins scored a goal in each game last week and chipped in an assist in Saturday's game to finish with a five-point week. Her goal on Saturday was her 11th of the season, which tied a program record.

On the season, Levins leads the team with 24 points on 11 goals and two assists. Two of her goals have been game-winning goals.

Nyzio posted a pair of shutouts last week by stopping all seven shots she faced on the week. With the shutout victory over Saint Michael's on Saturday, Nyzio tied program records for career wins (15) and shutouts (7).

On the season, Nyzio holds a 7-8 record with six shutouts, which is tied for second in the conference. Her 1.49 goals-against average ranks fourth in the Northeast-10.

The Ravens return to the field on Wednesday night, when they close out the regular season with a Northeast-10 Conference contest at home against Southern Connecticut State. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Sodexo Field in Rindge. Franklin Pierce has already punched its ticket to the quarterfinal round of next week's Northeast-10 Conference Field Hockey Championship.
