RINDGE, N.H. (November 26, 2008)
– Freshman goalkeeper Kristin Tormollan (Waterville,
Maine/Waterville) of the Franklin Pierce University field
hockey team has been named to the womensfieldhockey.com All-Rookie
Squad, as announced Tuesday by the website.
Tormollan helped lead the Ravens to a 7-13 record (7-11 NE-10) and
the school’s first appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference
Championships since 2001. Earlier this fall, Tormollan was named
Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and was also
selected to the All-Northeast-10 First Team and the Northeast-10
All-Rookie Team.
Tormollan played all but 5:35 in front of the Franklin Pierce cage
this season and posted a 7-13 record. Her 126 saves ranked fourth
in the Northeast-10, while she also finished fifth in goals against
average (2.13) and sixth in save percentage (.746).
Twice on the season, Tormollan posted double-digit saves in a game,
including 10 saves against C.W. Post in her first collegiate game
and a season-high 12 saves in a 1-0 loss to Saint Michael’s
in the final week of the season. Tormollan also notched two
shutouts during her freshman campaign: the first a four-save effort
against Merrimack on Sept. 6 and the latter a seven-save affair on
Oct. 16 against American International. In addition, Tormollan set
Franklin Pierce single-season records among goalkeepers for minutes
played (1414), games played (20) and games started (20).
