LOUISVILLE, Ky. (November 26, 2008)
– Senior defenders Stephanie
Howard (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) and Kayleigh Jaksina (Townsend, Mass./North
Middlesex) represented the Franklin Pierce University field
hockey team on the north squad at the National Field Hockey Coaches
Association Division II North/South Senior All-Star Game, played on
Saturday, Nov. 22 at University of Louisville.
Both seniors patrolled the backline for the north side during
Saturday’s dramatic contest. The north fell into a 3-0 hole,
but was able to rally late for a 4-3 victory. Howard capped the
comeback with a goal off a penalty corner which broke the 3-3 tie
and eventually served as the game-winner.
At Franklin Pierce, both seniors served as tri-captains during the
just-completed season and keyed the defensive efforts of the Ravens
throughout the season. The pair helped Franklin Pierce to a 7-13
record (7-11 Northeast-10) and the program’s first berth in
the Northeast-10 Conference Championships since 2001.
