Howard, Jaksina Named NFHCA Division II Senior All-Stars
Duo will participate in Division II North/South Senior All-Star Game

RINDGE, N.H. (November 3, 2008) –
Senior defenders Stephanie Howard
(Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) and Kayleigh Jaksina (Townsend, Mass./North
Middlesex) of the Franklin Pierce University field hockey
tame have both been named National Field Hockey Coaches Association
(NFHCA) Division II Senior All-Stars, as announced Monday by the
NFHCA. The pair will represent Franklin Pierce on the north squad
at the Division II North/South Senior All-Star Game on Saturday,
Nov. 22 at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky. at 5:30
p.m.
Both seniors served as tri-captains during the just-completed
season and keyed the defensive efforts of the Ravens throughout the
season. The pair helped Franklin Pierce to a 7-13 record (7-11
Northeast-10) and the program’s first berth in the
Northeast-10 Conference Championships since 2001.
Howard scored three goals and tied for second on the team with
three assists to tally nine points and match her career high set a
year ago. Her 28 shot attempts (11 on goal) ranked third on the
team and her two defensive saves was in the top-10 among conference
defenders. Howard netted one game-winning goal and converted on her
only penalty stroke attempt of the season. She was named to the
Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Oct. 6.
Jaksina posted two goals and two assists to total six points on the
season and match her career high set last season. She attempted 12
shots, including eight shots on goal. Jaksina recorded three
defensive saves, which led the team and is tied for sixth in the
conference. She was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly
Honor Roll on Oct. 6.
