RINDGE, N.H. (November 3, 2008) –
Junior forward Ashley Abernethy
(Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) and senior defender Stephanie Howard (Norwalk,
Conn./Norwalk) of the Franklin Pierce University field
hockey team have both been named Northeast-10 Conference Freshman
of the Week for the week ending on Nov. 2, as announced Monday by
the conference office.
Howard scored the first goal of the game for the Ravens on
Wednesday in the quarterfinal round of the Northeast-10 Conference
Championships at Southern Connecticut State. She sent a first-half
penalty stroke just inside the left post to put Franklin Pierce on
the board.
Abernethy also scored a goal at Southern Connecticut State, a tally
which, at the time, broke a 2-2 tie and gave the Ravens a lead at
the end of the first half. Abernethy took the ball from midfield on
a breakaway and stuffed a shot inside the near post as time expired
in the period.
