RINDGE, N.H. (September 20, 2008)
– Sophomore midfielder Lindsey Pinkham (Skowhegan,
Maine/Skowhegan Area) scored the only goal of the game on Saturday
afternoon to lead Stonehill to a 1-0 victory over the Franklin
Pierce University field hockey team in Northeast-10 Conference
play. Freshman goalkeeper Kristin
Tormollan (Waterville, Maine) made nine saves for Franklin
Pierce in defeat.
Stonehill garnered a 7-1 shots advantage in a scoreless first half
and the game went without a goal for over 55 minutes before
Stonehill scored the only goal of the game with 12:05 to play.
Pinkham scored her second goal of the season and her first
game-winning tally off a feed from junior forward Claire Hourihan
(East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville North).
Stonehill posted a 12-7 shots advantage in the second half and
held a 19-8 edge over the course of the game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Osier (South Dennis,
Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional) made seven saves for Stonehill to
earn the victory. Tormollan made nine saves in front of the
Franklin Pierce cage in defeat.
The Ravens (3-5, 3-4 NE-10) return to the field on Thursday, Sept.
25 when they travel to take on Saint Michael’s in a
Northeast-10 Conference contest and wrap up a four-game road swing.
Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Duffy Field in Colchester, Vt.
Franklin Pierce’s next home game is Saturday, Sept. 27
against Massachusetts Lowell at 1 p.m. Stonehill (4-4, 4-3 NE-10)
returns to action on Sept. 24 at home against Assumption.
