American International Upends Franklin Pierce, 3-2
Provencher nets first collegiate goal despite loss
Jennifer Provencher scored her first career goal on Monday at
American International.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 25, 2006)
– The Franklin Pierce field hockey team suffered a tough, 3-2
setback to American International College in Northeast-10
Conference action this afternoon at Yellow Jackets field. Yellow
Jacket junior Jamie Anderson (North Attleboro, Mass./North
Attleboro) led all scorers with a pair of goals for four
points.
American International opened the scoring just 11:08 into the
first half as sophomore Stephanie Laskey (Erving, Mass./Greenfield)
registered her first goal of the season off a Yellow Jacket penalty
shot. Franklin Pierce responded midway through the first half when
sophomore Jennifer Provencher
(Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) netted her first collegiate goal to
knot the score at 1-1.
American International came out firing early in the second half,
as Anderson rallied off back-to-back goals to give the Yellow
Jackets a 3-1 lead. Franklin Pierce cut the lead to 3-2 on a goal
from sophomore Trish Slowinski
(Colrain, Mass./Mohawk Regional), but junior goalkeeper
Cindy Armand (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) and the Yellow Jacket defense
limited the Ravens to only one shot thereafter to preserve their
second win of th
e season.
Franklin Pierce goalkeeper, senior Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan
School) made seven saves for the Ravens, while Armand
stopped seven shots for the Yellow Jackets.
Franklin Pierce (3-4, 3-3 NE-10) will be in action again Wednesday
as it travels to No. 5 ranked, Stonehill College at 7 p.m. American
International (2-5, 2-4 NE-10) will host Stonehill on Saturday at
12 p.m.
