Five Ravens earn Northeast-10 All-Academic Honors

Five returnees honored for efforts on and off the field

Angela Barone Angela Barone is among five Ravens selected to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic Teams.

RINDGE, N.H. (October 31, 2005) – Five members of the Franklin Pierce field hockey team were named to the 2005 Northeast-10 First and Second Team All-Academic Squads. The teams are selected by the Sports Information Directors of the Northeast-10. Candidates are chosen based on their performances both on and off the field.

Junior Angela Barone (Norwood, Pa./Norwood) and sophomore Elizabeth Ellis (Turner, Maine/Leavit) earned First Team All-Academic honors, while senior captains Kara LaSalle (Gilford, N.H./Gilford) and Amy McMullin (Belgrade, Maine/Messalonske) as well as junior Corinne Goulet (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford) earned Second Team All-Academic honors.

“I think it’s a really great accomplishment for our players,” said Coach Heddy. “We are the only school in the conference with five players honored and I commend them for that.”

Barone has earned a 3.70 cumulative grade point average while majoring in Music Production. Barone is also a Commissioner’s Honor Roll Gold Scholar. The Franklin Pierce junior started all 19 games for the Ravens this season, totaling one goal and three assists on the season. The three year starter has appeared in 53 games for the Ravens, contributing seven goals and six assists.

Ellis has earned a 3.97 cumulative grade point average while majoring in Marketing. Ellis was named a Commissioner’s Honor Roll Gold Scholar, while earning a perfect 4.0 grade point average last semester. The Franklin Pierce mid-fielder started all 19 games for the Ravens this season, aiding a Ravens defense that allowed only 2.19 goals per game. Over her career, Ellis has appeared in 36 games for the Ravens, starting 31.

LaSalle has earned a 3.55 cumulative grade point average while holding a double major in Mathematics and Psychology. LaSalle is also a Commissioner’s Honor Bronze scholar and a member of Psi Chi Honor Society. This season, she started all 19 games for the Ravens while anchoring a Ravens defense. LaSalle ranks second in program history with 67 games played for her career.

McMullin is a three-year starter for Franklin Pierce. She has earned a 2.5 grade point average while majoring in Sports and Recreation Management. This season she started all 19 games for the Ravens. She contributed three goals and three assists, while also leading a Ravens defense that allowed only 2.19 goals per game. She has appeared in 46 games for her career, posting four goals and three assists.

Goulet has earned a 3.58 grade point average while majoring in Mass Communications. She is a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Council for the college. This season, Goulet played in 18 games for the Ravens, starting 13. She aided the Ravens defense that allowed only 2.19 goals per game.

Franklin Pierce ended its season with an overall record of 7-12 and a league mark of 5-11.
