No. 5 UMass Lowell blanks Franklin Pierce, 4-0
Hohenberger scores 15th goal of the season

LOWELL, Mass. (September 28, 2005)
– The Franklin Pierce field hockey team suffered a tough 4-0
loss to No. 5 ranked, in the STX/NFHCA Weekly Coaches Poll,
University of Massachusetts Lowell at Cushing Field Complex this
evening.
Junior Sara Hohenberger (Windam, N.H./Salem) led the UMass Lowell
attack totaling one goal and two assists. Hohenberger opened the
scoring for UMass Lowell, as she scored her team-leading 15th goal
of the season with 31:53 remaining in the second half.
Freshman Jill Tierney (Newburyport, Mass./Newburyport) aided UMass
Lowell as she scored her first collegiate goal with 12:08 remaining
in the second half. Senior captain Josselyn Mroz (Salisbury,
Mass./Amesbury) and freshman Missy Seeley (East Hampstead,
N.H./Pinkerton Academy) both chipped in with one goal a piece.
Franklin Pierce junior goalkeeper Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan
School) registered eight saves in the match while UMass
Lowell goalkeeper Nicole Staiti (Barre, Mass./Quabbin Regional)
stopped one shot on route to her third shut-out of the season.
Franklin Pierce (3-7, 1-7 NE-10) will be in action on Saturday,
when it hosts No. 3 ranked Bentley College for a match at 1 p.m.
UMass Lowell (9-2, 8-1 NE-10) will be in action again Saturday when
it hosts No. 8 ranked Saint Michael’s College at 1 p.m.
