Franklin Pierce shuts out C.W. Post, 5-0

Huszar leads Ravens with two goals

RINDGE, N.H. (September 24, 2005) – Franklin Pierce scored four second half goals to notch its third victory of the season, a 5-0 win against Long Island University C.W. Post at Sodexho Field this afternoon.

Franklin Pierce junior Mary Beth Huszar (Greenville, N.H./Greenville) opened the scoring for the Ravens just 1:08 into the match, tallying her first goal of the game off a feed from junior Angela Barone (Norwood, Pa./Interboro). Huszar would later score her second goal of the match with 21:38 remaining in the second half.

Senior Laura Blanchard (Rockport, Mass./Rockport) also contributed to the Ravens’ offense as she notched her third goal of the season with 31:43 remaining in the second half. Rounding out the offensive attack for Franklin Pierce was senior Trisha Langevin (Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) and junior Nicole McKinnon (Northfield, N.H./Winnisquam), who contributed one goal a piece.

Franklin Pierce junior goalkeeper Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) registered her second shutout of the season, stopping one C.W. Post shot. Junior Pam Guernaccini (Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Regional) stopped seven shots for C.W. Post.

Franklin Pierce (3-6, 2-6 NE-10) will be in action on Wednesday, when it travels to UMass Lowell for a match at 7 p.m. L.I.U. C.W. Post (4-6) will be in action again tomorrow when it travels to Assumption College for a match starting at 1 p.m.
