Franklin Pierce Blanks Saint Anselm, 3-0
Huszar leads Ravens to victory; Pietraszuk notches first career shutout
Mary Beth Huszar scored the first two goals of her career on
Tuesday against Saint Anselm.

RINDGE, N.H. (September 6, 2005)
– Franklin Pierce collected its first victory of the season
with a 3-0 decision over Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10
Conference field hockey action at Sodexho Field this evening.
Junior forward Mary Beth Huszar
(Greenville, N.H./Mascenic) scored the first two goals of
her collegiate career to lead the Franklin Pierce attack. Huszar
opened the scoring with 13:59 remaining in the first half off a
feed from classmate Angela Barone
(Norwood, Pa./Interboro). Huszar added her second goal with
20:15 remaining in the second half when she knocked in her own
rebound to round out the scoring.
Senior Laura Blanchard (Rockport,
Mass./Rockport) also figured in the scoring with the Ravens
second goal of the match 5:10 into the second stanza, assisted by
Nicole McKinnon (Northfield,
N.H./Winnisquam). The goal moved Blanchard into a tie for
fifth place on the College’s all-time goal scoring list with
11.
The Franklin Pierce defense yielded just six shots all match and
junior goalkeeper Amanda
Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) posted her
first collegiate shutout with five saves on the night. Saint Anselm
freshman Sarah Oakes (North Yarmouth, Maine/Greely) finished with
seven stops.
Franklin Pierce (1-2, 1-2 NE-10) will be in action on Thursday,
when it travels to Assumption College at 4 p.m. Saint Anselm (0-3,
0-3 NE-10) will travel to Merrimack College on Thursday for a game
at 3:30 p.m.
