RINDGE, N.H. (September 3, 2005) – Franklin Pierce suffered a tough 6-0 loss to Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action at Sodexho Field this afternoon.

Sophomore Caitlin Gleason (New Boston, N.H./Goffstown) scored her first two goals of the season, leading the way for Stonehill. Gleason scored her first goal with 27:25 remaining in the second half, when Freshman Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H./Goffstown) delivered a pass right in front of the net. Gleason’s second goal came with 16:05 remaining in the match, when she was awarded a penalty stroke. Gleason shot the ball into the top left corner of the net

Junior Kelly Latendresse (Metheun, Mass./Metheun) scored her team leading fourth goal of the season with 5:20 remaining in the match. Latendresse fired a shot off the Ravens goalkeeper, got her own rebound, and fired another shot into the back of the goal. Also aiding the Skyhawks offense, were senior captain Julie Michalos (Norwood, Mass./Norwood) and Jillian Klotz (Centerville, Mass./Barnstable) with one goal apiece.

The Stonehill defense allowed one shot all match, as sophomore goalkeeper Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass./Tantasqua) and fre shman Sara Piper (Hollis, N.H./Hollis-Brookline) combined for one save and Stonehill’s third shutout of the season. Franklin Pierce junior Amanda Pietraszuk (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) stopped 11 Stonehill shots.

Franklin Pierce (0-2, 0-2 NE-10) will be in action on Tuesday, when it hosts Saint Anselm College at 6 p.m. Stonehill (3-0, 2-0 NE-10) will host Bentley College on Saturday at 7 p.m.
