Demers Earns Northeast-10 All-Academic Honors
Gorham, N.H. native receives accolades in her final collegiate season
April Demers has been named to the Northeast-10 Conference
All-Academic Team.

RINDGE, N.H. (November 2, 2004) -
Franklin Pierce field hockey team member April Demers (Gorham, N.H./Gorham) has
earned a spot on the 2004 Northeast-10 All-Academic Team. The team
is selected by the Sports Information Directors of the
Northeast-10. Candidates are chosen based on their performances
both on and off the field. She was one of just 11 student-athletes
selected out of the 24 who were nominated. The Franklin Pierce
senior has earned a 3.65 cumulative grade point average while
majoring in Mass Communication.
Serving as the team’s co-captain, Demers played in and
started all 17 matches for the Ravens this season. She led a
defense that allowed just 2.56 goals per game, and she also aided
the Franklin Pierce offensive attack with one assist.
A four-year starter, Demers appeared in 66 matches, starting 60. In
2003, she led a defensive unit that limited its opponents to a
school record low of 1.40 goals per game, and she had one goal and
one assist in her career.
Demers earned National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II
All-Academic Honors in each of her first three seasons, and she is
one of four Franklin Pierce student-athletes to receive the Don and
Judy Schriefer Scholarship. She is a member of Student-Athlete
Advisory Committee, Alpha Chi, the TV Club and the Pierce
Arrow.
Franklin Pierce ended its season with an overall record of 6-11
and a league mark of 5-11.
