Franklin Pierce Earns First Win in 2-0 Shutout over Saint Anselm
Senior goalkeeper, Kasey McClements, makes 16 saves for the win
RINDGE, N.H. (September 28, 2002) - The
Franklin Pierce University field hockey team recorded its first win
of the season, shutting out intra-state rivals, Saint Anselm
College, 2-0, in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action this
afternoon.
Franklin Pierce senior Stephanie
Bradley (Warrington, Pa./Miller Place (N.Y.)) broke open the
scoring at the 24:50 mark of the first half with an unassisted
goal.
Sophomore Sarah Lavway (Unity,
Maine/Mount View) tacked on the insurance marker just two
minutes into the second stanza off of a feed from senior Chrystean Page (Turner,
Maine/Leavitt) to seal the 2-0 victory.
Senior goalkeeper Kasey McClements
(Ashland, Mass./Ashland) was outstanding making 16 saves in
net for the win. Saint Anselm goalkeeper, Lisa Bellantoni recorded
six saves for the Hawks.
Franklin Pierce (1-6, 1-1 NE-10) returns to action on Wednesday,
when it travels to Merrimack College for a League matchup at 4 p.m.
Saint Anselm (2-6, 1-2 NE-10) next travels to UMass Lowell on
Wednesday for a Conference matchup at 7 p.m.
