Bryant Shuts Out FPC, 4-0
KEENE, N.H. (September 14, 2002) - The
Franklin Pierce University field hockey team dropped their fourth
straight, falling to Bryant College, 4-0, in Northeast-10
Conference field hockey action at Owl Stadium in Keene, N.H. this
evening.
Junior Melissa Manseau went on the attack early, as she netted her
first of two goals at the 11:52 mark of the first half.
Junior Debbie Jones (Escondido,
Calif./Bishops) attempted to close the gap on a breakaway
midway through the first half, but was stoned by sophomore
goalkeeper Kristen Patat (Portsmouth, N.H./Portsmouth) as she
attempted to score from the left side.
The Bulldogs pulled ahead by two just six minutes later as junior
Elizabeth Gunn scored her ninth goal of the season at the 5:28
mark. Manseau extended Bryant's lead to three goals as she
capitalized on a penalty stroke at the 24:01 mark of the second
stanza, while Jean Wall scored the Bulldogs' fourth and final goal
to seal the 4-0 victory.
Senior goalkeeper, Kasey
McClements (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) totaled 12 saves in net
for the Ravens, while Patat made five saves for the win.
Franklin Pierce (0-4, 0-2 NE-10) returns to action on Saturday,
September 21, when it travels to Shippensburg University for a
non-conference matchup at 1 p.m. Bryant (5-0, 2-0 NE-10) next hosts
Saint Michael's College in a League matchup on Saturday, September
21 at the Bryant Field Hockey Complex at 10 a.m.
