Franklin Pierce Falls to C.W. Post, 4-1
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (September 8, 2002) -
The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team suffered a tough
4-1 loss to C.W. Post in non-conference action this afternoon.
C.W. Post's Kim Landesman converted a feed from teammate Kori
Ciyitilio with 24:88 left in the first half to put the Pioneers up
by one.
The Ravens responded with a goal just over five minutes later, as
senior tri-captain, Stephanie
Bradley (Warrington, Pa./Miller Place) took a pass from
classmate Kelly Henry (Wyoming,
R.I./Chariho Regional) to knot the score 1-1.
C.W. Post took back the lead with 2:03 remaining in the first as
Landesman scored her second marker of the afternoon. The Ravens
failed to recover in the second half as Ashley Gilroy scored two
more unanswered goals in the second stanza to make the final, C.W.
Post 4, Franklin Pierce 1.
Senior goalkeeper, Kasey
McClements (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) made eight stops in net,
while freshman Kristin Boekhoff
(Selden, N.Y./Newfield) made one save for the Ravens. C.W.
Post's Christy Gardner made three saves for the win.
Franklin Pierce (0-2, 0-0 NE-10) returns to action on Tuesday when
it travels to Plymouth State for a non-conference matchup at 4 p.m.
