WINCHENDON, Mass. (October 4, 2001) -
Sophomore Lindsay Stone's goal just 4:38 into overtime lifted
Assumption College to a 2-1 victory over Franklin Pierce
University
in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action at The Winchendon
School this afternoon.
Stone took a pass from senior Tracie Andrew and tucked it past FP
junior goalkeeper Kasey McClements
(Ashland, Mass./Ashland) for the gamewinning score.
Junior Lisa Paciello opened the scoring in the match as her goal,
assisted by classmate Liz Croteau, with 10:35 remaining in the
first half put Assumption up 1-0.
The Ravens knotted the match with just 8:51 remaining in regulation
as junior Stephanie Bradley
(Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) took a feed from sophomore
Debbie Jones (Escondido,
Calif./Bishops) and found the back of the net.
FP recorded a 16-12 advantage in shots inside the circle in the
contest, but the Greyhounds posted a 3-1 advantage in that category
in the extra session.
Junior goalkeeper Kristyn Bonnyman preserved the win for Assumption
as she recorded six saves, while McClements made ten stops in net
for the Ravens.
Franklin Pierce (4-8, 3-3 NE-10) returns to action on Saturday,
when they host Stonehill College, ranked No. 4 in the nation, at
The Winchendon School, at Noon.
