No. 1 Bentley Tops FPC, 4-1
RINDGE, N.H. (October 1, 2001) - The
Franklin Pierce University women's field hockey team dropped a 4-1
decision to No. 1 nationally ranked Bentley this afternoon.
The Falcons opened up the scoring at the 7:39 mark of the first
half with an unassisted goal by sophomore Lauren Galenski.
Bentley struck again early in the second half when Alicia
Cabreraconverted a pass from teammate Allyson Bunce to put the
Falcons up 2-0 at the 8:10 mark.
The Ravens answered minutes later when freshman Chelsey Munson (Weybridge, Vt./Middlebury
Union) found an opening on the right side of Bentley
netminder Liz Novis at the 9:43 mark of the second half to bring
the Ravens within one.
Bentley's Jennifer Walker helped the Falcons take back the two goal
lead when she scored on a pass from Galenski to make the score 3-1
at the 11:00 mark of the second half.
Galenski notched her second goal of the afternoon at the 16:50 mark
of the second half to make the final -- Bentley 4, Franklin Pierce

FP goalkeeper Irene Smith
(Olivebridge, N.Y./Onteora) made 12 stops in 46 minutes of
work, and Kasey McClements
(Ashland, Mass./Ashland) made nine stops for the Ravens in
24 minutes of play. Novis grabbed eight saves in 70 minutes for the
Falcons.
The Ravens (4-7, 3-2 NE-10) return to action on Thursday when they
face Assumption College in a Northeast-10 matchup on their home
turf at 4 p.m.
