FP Handles AIC, 1-0

Sarah Lavway's early goal in the second half gives FP their second NE-10 victory

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 27, 2001) - The Franklin Pierce University women's field hockey team defeated American International College by a score of 1-0 in a Northeast-10 match up this afternoon.

The teams battled through 35 minutes of scoreless play until FPC's Sarah Lavway (Unity, Maine/Mount View) scored the game-winner off a pass from teammate Kelly Henry (Wyoming, R.I./Chariho Regional) 14 seconds into the second half.

Netminder Kasey McClements (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) made four saves in 70 minutes of work for the win. AIC's Christa Vancini (W. Springfield, Mass.) recorded ten saves in 56 minutes of play.

Franklin Pierce (3-6, 2-1 NE-10) returns to the field on Tuesday, Oct. 2, for a Northeast-10 Conference contest at Southern Connecticut at 1 p.m.
