FP Edges Regis, 2-1
WESTON, Mass. (September 17, 2001) -
The Franklin Pierce University women's field hockey team picked up
their second win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Regis
College this afternoon.
The Ravens jumped out to an early lead when freshman Chelsey Munson (Weybridge, Vt./Middlebury
Union) scored her first collegiate goal on an assist from
senior Vicki Robblee (Rindge,
N.H./Conant) at the 31:02 mark of the first half.
The Ravens went ahead by two goals at the 1:06 mark of the second
half when sophomore Debbie Jones
(Escondido, Calif./Bishops) took a pass from teammate, Kelly Henry (Wyoming, R.I./Chariho
Regional), and put one past Regis netminder, Isabel
Hall.
The Pride answered minutes later with a goal from Judy Solar at the
6:55 mark of the second half. FPC's Kasey McClements (Ashland,
Mass./Ashland) helped the Ravens maintain their lead, as she
made 11 saves in the win. Regis's Isabel Hall made 14 saves for the
Pride.
The Ravens (2-3, 1-0 NE-10) return to action on Saturday, September
22, when they face Houghton College in a non-conference matchup at
Lock Haven University at 1 p.m.
