FP Shuts Down Merrimack, 1-0
McClements makes four saves to earn her first shutout of the season
RINDGE, N.H. (September 13, 2001) - The
Franklin Pierce University Women's field hockey team knotted their
first Northeast-10 Conference win with a 1-0 shutout over
Merrimack.
The Ravens controlled most of the first half, but didn't score
until the 9:15 mark of the second. FPC's Erin Sykes (West Windsor, Vt./Windsor)
took a midfield pass from April
Demers (Gorham, N.H./Gorham) to setup Debbie Jones (Escondido,
Calif./Bishops) in front of the Merrimack net. Jones ripped
the winning tally past Merrimack's Kaitlin McCone (Hanover,
Mass/Notre Dame) to give the Ravens the 1-0 advantage. McCone made
eight saves for the Pioneers.
Kasey McClements (Ashland,
Mass./Ashland) earned her first shutout of the season, as
she stopped four saves in the win.
The Ravens (1-2, 1-0 NE-10) return to action on Saturday, Sept. 15,
when they face LIU C.W. Post at noon at Winchendon School.
