FP Field Hockey Team Drops Becker, 2-1
Victory Ensures Ravens Of Winning Season
LEICESTER, Mass. (October 18, 2000) -
Kelly Henry (Wyoming, R.I.)
scored with under four minutes remaining in the game as Franklin
Pierce University defeated Becker 2-1 on Wednesday.
Henry took a feed from Karen
Clarke (Brewster, N.Y.) to score the goal, ensuring the
Ravens of a winning season for the first time in program
history.
Becker took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a goal 10 minutes into the
game by Shana Hazen.
FP controlled play throughout the contest, but could not find the
back of the net until 19:58 remaining in the contest. Chrystean Page (Turner, Maine) corraled
a pass from Hilary Shaw (Gardiner,
Maine) to tie the score at 1-1.
Sophomore keeper Kasey McClements
(Ashland, Mass.) earned her sixth win in goal after taking
over for Irene Smith (Olivebridge,
N.Y.) in the second half.
FP outshot Becker 19 to five, and put 15 shots on goal to Becker's
two. FP also held the advantage in penalty corners, eight to
five.
The Ravens will be back in action on Saturday when they host UMass
Lowell in a critical NE-10 match-up.
