FP Field Hockey Team Halts Losing Streak
Four Different Players Score in 4-0 win Over Regis
WINCHENDON, Mass. (October 5, 2000) -
Three goals in a 10-minute span in the first half Thursday carried
the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team to a 4-0
non-conference win over Regis College.
The win allowed the Ravens (6-4) to snap a two-game losing
streak.
Karen Clarke (Brewster,
N.Y.), Heidi Nichols
(Fremont, N.H.) and Debbie
Jones (Escondido, Calif.) all scored in a 10-minute span
that gave the Ravens a three-goal lead that Regis (2-8) could not
overcome.
Nichols now leads the Ravens with seven goals and 15 points. Jones
and Clarke each added assists.
Chrystean Page (Turner,
Maine) wrapped up the scoring with a goal in the final
minute of the match.
Junior goalkeeper Irene Smith
(Olivebridge, N.Y.) made two saves to record her first
shutout of the year. Sarah Hartford (Hudson, Mass.) made 11 saves
for the Pride.
