FP Field Hockey Team Drops First NE-10 Match
No. 10 Assumption Rallies for 2-1 Win
WORCESTER, Mass. (September 30, 2000) -
Stephanie Fleming (Feeding Hills, Mass.) scored a pair of
unanswered goals Saturday as No. 10 nationally ranked Assumption
College rallied to beat the Franklin Pierce University field hockey
team, 2-1, in a Northeast-10 match.
The loss was the first conference setback suffered by the Ravens
(5-3, 4-1 NE-10) in this, their inaugural season in the NE-10.
Freshman forward Debbie Jones
(Escondido, Calif.) put the Ravens ahead in the fifth minute
with her second goal in as many matches.
However, Fleming allowed the Greyhounds (6-3-1, 3-2 NE-10) to tie
the match in the 19th minute, and got the game-winner in the 63rd
minute.
The Ravens look to rebound Tuesday when they travel to face
perennial power Bentley College in a 7:30 p.m. match in Waltham,
Mass.
