FP Field Hockey Team Rallies Past Bryant
Ravens Remain Unbeaten in NE-10 with 4-2 Win
WINCHENDON, Mass. (September 26, 2000)
- The improbable season of the Franklin Pierce University field
hockey team continued Tuesday as the Ravens came back from a
two-goal deficit to beat Bryant College, 4-2, at The Winchendon
School.
The Ravens rallied for three goals in the final 17 minutes to
remain unbeaten in the Northeast-10 Conference. FPC, which had
never won more than three games in its three previous seasons
competing at the varsity level, is now 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the
NE-10.
Bryant (2-5, 2-2 NE-10) jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a pair of goals
by Elizabeth Gunn (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) in the opening 10 minutes
of the rain-soaked contest.
FP got one back on a goal by Debbie Jones (Escondido, Calif.) with
20 minutes left in the first half, but went into the half trailing
2-1.
Karen Clarke (Brewster,
N.Y.) tied the game in the 54th minute and Kelly Henry (Wyoming, R.I.) put the
Ravens ahead five minutes later. Chrystean Page (Turner, Maine), who had
a goal waived off in the first half, added an insurance marker with
3:20 left.
