Women’s Cross Country Takes Third at Kirsh Cup

Ravens women's cross country

HOPKINTON, N.H. (October 15, 2022) -- It was time for the Franklin Pierce University women's cross country team's annual home meet on Saturday, as the Ravens hosted the Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup. The Ravens came home third, out of six teams, in the 5k race at Hopkinton State Fairgrounds.

The first to cross the Line for the Ravens was graduate student Saylee Missell (Stafford Springs, Conn.), who took 10th for her 20:45 performance. Four of her teammates followed her home, as the Ravens' scoring five finished in a flock. Junior Meghan Sheline (Southington, Conn.) was next to cross, as she finished 11th for her 20:55 time. She was followed by senior Victoria Van Houten (Wantage, N.J.), who claimed 12th for her 21:01 time. Junior Jasmin Baillargeon (South Wheelock, Vt.) ran a time of 21:12 to claim 13th. In 14th, it was graduate student Alana Thompson (Westampton, N.J.), who crossed the line with a time of 21:19.

The top five Franklin Pierce finishers added up to 60 points for the Ravens, who were a narrow third-place finisher, just seven points behind Assumption (53 points) in second. Southern Connecticut State (20 points) ran away with things, both literally and figuratively, as the Owls were 33-point victors.

Following in 21:16 was senior Meagan Foley (Beverly, Mass.), who took 16th. Graduate student Alena Masterson (Pelham, N.H.) took 19th for her 21:58 time. She was accompanied by junior Katie Peterson (Derry, N.H.), whose 23:31 time landed her in 24th place. The final Raven to cross the line was junior Emma Cutter (Newburyport, Mass.), who claimed 30th for her 24:17 time, as all nine Franklin Pierce runners finished in the top 30 of a 42-runner field.

It was the penultimate tune-up for the Ravens ahead of championship season. The team will be back at it on Friday, Oct. 21, for the CCSU Mini Meet, in New Britain, Conn.
