Lambert takes second

HOPKINTON, N.H. (October 16, 2015) – Senior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) finished second on Friday afternoon to lead the Franklin Pierce University women's cross country team to a fifth-place finish as they hosted the third annual Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds. The meet also served as a preview of the upcoming NCAA Championship East Regional.

Lambert put together a 4k time of 14:39 on her second-place run, which was good for a 5:54 average mile time. She was the first of two Ravens in the top 40 of the 101-runner field, as sophomore Natalie Davies (Ware, Mass.) took 14th, with a time of 15:32. Farther back, senior Doria Brown (Little Falls, N.J.) in 45th (16:15), freshman Sarah Hart (Glastonbury, Conn.) in 46th (16:16) and senior Shannon Lozier (Merrimac, Mass.) in 52nd (16:27) rounded out Franklin Pierce's five scoring positions on Friday.

It all added up to 139 points and the fifth-place finish for the Ravens, at the nine-team meet. Merrimack (66 points) put four in the top-20 on the way to an eight-point victory over second-place Saint Anselm (74). In front of Franklin Pierce, Adelphi (87) in third and Stonehill (129) in fourth filled out the remaining top-five positions.

Individually, Lambert finished eight seconds behind Laura O'Hanlon of Southern New Hampshire, who claimed first in 14:31. Behind Lambert was Shannon Conley of Saint Anselm in third (14:43). A pair of Southern Connecticut State runners rounded out the top-five: Caylee Richardson in fourth (14:44) and Natasha Fitzpatrick in fifth (14:45).

The Ravens return to action on Sunday, Oct. 25, when they travel to the Northeast-10 Conference Championship, hosted by Saint Michael's in Colchester, Vt.
