RINDGE N.H. (10/3/23) – Though there were moments of greatness for Franklin Pierce Volleyball Tuesday night, the team struggled in their Northeast-10 matchup against the Bentley Falcons, losing 3-0.

With the loss, the Ravens drop to 5-5 (0-2 NE-10). With the road victory, the Falcons improve to 11-3 (2-0 NE-10), picking up their 8th straight win.

The Ravens started off hot in the first set, jumping out to an early 7-2 lead behind the ferocious home crowd, who showed out in droves for Athletes Backing Athletes Night at the fieldhouse. Tessa Brandt (Foster, R.I) smashed 2 kills and a service ace and Avery Theriault (West Hartford, Conn.) and Avery LeBlanc (Exeter, R.I) each chipped in with a kill to give all the momentum to the Ravens. After taking a timeout, Bentley roared back, going on a 14-8 run to take a 16-15 lead and force the Ravens to use a timeout. The Falcons closed out the first set with a 9-4 run to win 25-19.

In the second set, the opening 10 points were a back-and-forth battle. The Ravens would get some momentum from a crucial block by Avery LeBlanc, but the Falcons would go on to a 7-2 run which forced the Ravens to use a timeout.

After the timeout, Ingrid Lindstrom (Dudley, Mass.) and Avery Theriault each pounded home kills and Madelyn Boop (Reno, Nev.) provided a service ace to help the Ravens climb back to make it 19-15 Bentley. From there, the Falcons once again hit the jets as Bentley's Ellie Wheeler scored 2 kills and Elizabeth Blinn scored one of her own to help secure a 25-21 second set victory, putting Bentley up 2-0.

The Falcons continued their pace in the third set, jumping out to an 11-7 lead. Bentley took advantage of kills by Caitlin Wunder, Elizabeth Blinn, and Hannah Rounds to pull ahead and put a stranglehold on the third set with a 19-12 lead. The Ravens showed signs of life toward the end of the third, making the score 23-18 thanks to two consecutive kills from Ingrid Lindstrom. However, it was a little too late for the Ravens as Bentley finished out the third set strong, winning it 25-21 and earning a clean sweep on the road.
