RINDGE, N.H. (October 5, 2021)– Wednesday nights Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball matchup between the Franklin Pierce Ravens and Bentley University Falcons at the Field House was tightly contested with three of the four sets decided by three or less points. Junior Ingrid Lindstrom (Dudley, Mass.) and sophomore Morgan Schmutzler (Lockport, Ill.) tallied 13 kills and 28 digs, respectively, to lift the team to a 3-1 triumph over the Falcons.

With the win Franklin Pierce moves to 8-5 (2-1 NE10) on the year. On the other side of the court, Bentley falls to an even 7-7 (3-1 NE10) towards the middle of the season.

The game started with the first set going to the Ravens 25-17. By far the most lopsided set of the match, senior Kennedy Garnhart (Colorado Springs, Colo.) earned a pair of service aces in route to a Ravens 10-3 lead to start. The rest of the set was much closer, as both teams traded points with FPU maintaining the lead. Franklin Pierce jumped to a 24-15 lead, before Bentley was able to notch two straight points, but, ultimately, the Ravens earned the set point.

Bentley earned the second set point, their only one of the match, by a score of 25-20. Franklin Pierce would once again jump out to a 10-3 lead in the set, but this time eight consecutive points gave the Falcons an 11-10 lead. Both squads would exchange leads until Bentley slowly grew its lead and tied the match at one set point a piece.

The Ravens won both sets three and four to clinch the match win. The third set came at a 25-23 score. The Falcons had the lead 23-22 late in the set, but a service ace from junior Mariah Robles (West Covina, Calif.) and a kill from Lindstrom helped the Ravens to the set win. The fourth set was once again tightly contested, but a kill from Lindstrom sealed the deal for Franklin Pierce to the end of the match.

The Crimson and Grey are back in action Saturday, October 9, as they welcome the Stonehill College Skyhawks to the Field House for a 1 p.m. NE10 matchup.
