Volleyball Blanks Le Moyne, 3-0
Parnell leads all players with 13 kills

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (October 19, 2008)
– Junior Caitlynn Parnell
(Medina, Texas/Medina) racked up a match-high 13 kills on
Sunday afternoon to lead the Franklin Pierce University volleyball
team to a 3-0 victory over Le Moyne in Northeast-10 Conference play
at Ted Grant Court. Senior Jodi Smith (Angola, N.Y./Eden) led Le
Moyne with 12 kills.
Franklin Pierce needed extra points to win the first set, 28-26,
before cruising to victory with 25-18 and 25-16 wins in the second
and third sets, respectively.
Parnell was the only Raven in double figures offensively, while
senior Emily Schultz (Salem,
Wis./Westosha Central) narrowly missed a pair of
double-digit performances with nine kills and seven digs. Senior
Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo,
Calif./Adolfo Camarillo) keyed the Franklin Pierce offense,
distributing 33 assists as five Ravens tallied at least five kills
on the afternoon. Sophomore Chelsie Kohout (Harrison Township,
Mich./L’Anse Creuse) led the defensive efforts with
eight digs.
For Le Moyne, Smith was the only player in double figures with her
12 kills. She worked primarily off the set of junior Kaylin
Brainerd (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool), who dished out a match-best
35 assists. Juniors Elizabeth Cheek (Huntington Beach,
Calif./Rosary) and Lindsay Gleason (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) led the
Dolphins defensively, as each recorded a match-best nine digs.
The Ravens (13-14, 6-4 NE-10) return to the court on Tuesday, Oct.
21, when they return home to take on Saint Michael’s in a
Northeast-10 Conference contest. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
at the Fieldhouse in Rindge, N.H. Le Moyne (11-9, 4-5 NE-10)
returns to action on Oct. 25 at home against Southern Connecticut
State and Queens.
