Caitlynn Parnell Caitlynn Parnell tied for the team lead with 13 kills on Tuesday night at American International.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 30, 2008) – Freshman Ellisha Terry (Fort Worth, Texas/Everman Joe C. Bean) hammered out a match-best 24 kills and added 23 digs on Tuesday night to notch a double-double and lead American International to a 3-2 victory over the Franklin Pierce University volleyball team in Northeast-10 Conference action at Butova Gymnasium. Senior Nicole Buchholz (Broadlands, Va./Stone Bridge) and junior Caitlynn Parnell (Medina, Texas/Medina) each recorded 13 kills for Franklin Pierce.

Franklin Pierce took the first set, 25-21, but then saw AIC take a 2-1 lead with 25-20 and 25-16 wins in the second and third set, respectively. The Ravens evened the match at 2-2 with a 25-22 victory in the fourth set, but the Yellow Jackets closed out the match by a 16-14 margin in the decisive fifth set.

Buchholz and Parnell led the Franklin Pierce offense with 13 kills each on the evening, while sophomore Diana Rutt (Dayton, Nev./Dayton) and senior Emily Schultz (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) chipped in seven kills each. All four worked primarily off the set of senior Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Adolfo Camarillo), who dished out 42 assists. Sophomore Chelsie Kohout (Harrison Township, Mich./L’Anse Creuse) collected 24 digs to lead the defensive efforts for the Ravens while Buchholz recorded a team-best three blocks (two solo).

Terry led AIC with her 24-kill, 23-dig double-double. Offensively, she was joined in double figures by sophomores Alicia Smith (Bridgetown, Barbados) and Keziah Kashouh (West Warwick, R.I./West Warwick) who posted 17 and 16 kills, respectively. Also recording a double-double was freshman Kervelle Redhead (St. James, Trinidad) with 14 digs and a match-best 67 assists. Smith led the defensive efforts at the net with a match-high six blocks (two solo).

The Ravens (8-11, 1-2 NE-10) return to the court on Thursday, Oct. 2, when they travel to take on Bentley in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Dana Center in Waltham, Mass. Franklin Pierce returns home on Saturday, Oct. 4 to host Southern Connecticut State at 12 p.m. American International (5-8, 1-2 NE-10) returns to action on Oct. 3 at Saint Michael’s.
