Franklin Pierce Knocked Off by Assumption, 3-1
Buchholz leads the Ravens with 13 kills and seven blocks on the evening
Karissa Hookstadt dished out 40
assists to go with six digs and six kills on Tuesday at
Assumption.

WORCESTER, Mass. (September
25, 2007) – Jessica Haller (Meriden, Conn./Maloney)
led all players with 17 kills as Assumption College defeated
Franklin Pierce University by a score of 3-1 (32-30, 30-25, 29-31,
30-24) in a Northeast-10 Conference women’s volleyball match
on Tuesday evening at Laska Gymnasium.
Junior co-captains Nicole Buchholz (Ashburn, Va./Stone
Bridge) and Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo,
Calif./Camarillo) paced Franklin Pierce on the night, as
Buchholz led the Ravens with 13 kills and seven blocks while
Hookstadt recorded 40 assists, six kills and six digs. Freshman
libero Chelsie Kohout (Harrison Township,
Mich./L’Anse Creuse) added 25 digs to lead all
players, while junior Emily Schultz (Salem, Wis./Westosha
Central) set a new career high with 24 digs.
For the Greyhounds, Haller had a double-double with a match-high
17 kills and 15 digs while teammate Jenna Costin (Lynnfield,
Mass./Lynnfield) recorded 16 kills and five digs.
The undermanned Ravens held tough against Assumption on the
Greyhounds’ home court, battling hard before dropping a tough
32-30 game one. After a loss in the second game, the visitors
forced a fourth game with a hard-fought 31-29 win in the game
three.
Franklin Pierce (9-10, 3-2 NE-10) will return home to the Franklin
Pierce Fieldhouse for a five-match homestand, beginning on Friday
night with a Northeast-10 matchup against Pace University at 7 p.m.
Assumption (10-3, 3-2 NE-10) will take on Le Moyne College Saturday
at noon.
