Franklin Pierce Tops Stonehill, 3-1

Collett leads Ravens to first victory of the season

Christina Collett Christina Collett piled up a match-best 22 kills on Wednesday night against Stonehill.

RINDGE, N.H. (Sept. 7, 2005) –Franklin Pierce registered its first win of the season, 3-1 (30-26, 26-30, 30-20, 30-21) over Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference volleyball action at the Franklin Pierce Fieldhouse this evening.

Junior outside hitter Christina Collett (Tombstone, Ariz./Tombstone) led the Franklin Pierce attack with a match-high 22 kills to go with two blocks.

Freshman Nicole Buchholz (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) was solid for the Ravens, adding 18 kills and five blocks. Classmate Karissa Hookstadt (Camarillo, Calif./Camarillo) contributed a match-high 36 assists, 15 digs, five kills and two blocks. Senior captain Tara Vece (Clinton, Conn./The Morgan School) chipped in with a match-high 28 digs.

Senior captain Mollie Babcock (Gilford, N.H./Gilford) led Stonehill with 13 assists.

Classmate and co-captain Doree Blanco (Warwick, R.I./Toll Gate) chipped in with nine kills, five blocks, three digs, and an ace, while sophomore Rebekah Saunders (Gilford, N.H/Gilford) contributed six kills, four blocks, and three digs.

Franklin Pierce (1-4, 1-0 NE-10) returns to action next Tuesday when it hosts Bentley College at 7 p.m. Stonehill (1-3, 0-1 NE-10) will take the court again when it travels to Kutztown University this weekend.
