Franklin Pierce Falls to Le Moyne, 3-0

RINDGE, N.H. (Oct. 3, 2004) – The Franklin Pierce volleyball team fell 3-0 (30-26, 30-27, 30-25) to visiting Le Moyne College this afternoon in Northeast-10 competition. With the win, the visiting Dolphins improve their overall record to 12-6 and their league mark to 4-2. The Ravens drop to 5-9 overall and 3-6 in league play.

Leading the way for Le Moyne was junior outside hitter Lindsey Fattey (Lancaster, N.Y./St. Mary’s) who had 13 kills and 16 digs. Sophomore middle hitter Jody Hammond (Bloomfield, N.Y./Bloomfield) chipped in with eleven kills and two blocks, while classmate Julie McLaud (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) had a strong overall game, posting 35 assists, 15 digs and six kills in the victory.

Sophomore Michelle McConnell (Elora, Ontario/Centre Wellington) sparked the Franklin Pierce offense with 17 kills and nine digs, while classmate Christina Collett (Tombstone, Ariz./Tombstone) added eleven kills and five digs. Freshman setter Bria Williams (Chino Valley, Ariz./Chino Valley) collected 33 assists, and junior co-captain Tara Vece (Clinton, Conn./Morgan School) piled up 22 digs on the defensive side.

Franklin Pierce (5-9, 3-6 NE-10) will next be in action on Wednesday when they travel to Southern New Hampshire University for a Northeast-10 Conference match beginning at 7 p.m. Le Moyne (12-6, 4-2) will take the court again on Saturday, October 16 when they host league for Merrimack College at noon.
