Outdoor Track & Field Sends 15 Athletes to USTFCCCA All-East Region Team

NEW ORLEANS, La. (5/17/23) – Following the conclusion of the 2023 regular season, the U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) unveiled their individual selections for All-East Region honors for Outdoor Track & Field, naming a total of 15 members of the Franklin Pierce program. The official announcement was made on Wednesday afternoon by the USTFCCCA organization offices.

It is the second consecutive year with 15 honorees for the Ravens, which includes two relay teams that received recognition last season.

Per the formal release from the USTFCCCA, "The top-5 individuals in each event from each respective region can earn All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay teams. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards."

Of the list of recognized Ravens, four individuals received the nod for their performances in multiple events. Kicking it off is junior Ryan Outerbridge (Paget, Bermuda), who held a fifth regionally ranked finish in the 5,000-Meter (14:57.52 – Bucknell Bison Classic) and a third-best in the Steeplechase (9:43.05 – NE10 Outdoor Championships). Junior Wondu Summa (Burlington, Vt.), who was crowned as the NE10's Most Valuable Athlete, continued the list as the top regional finisher in both the 5,000-Meter (14:28.60 – Sean Collier Invitational) and 10,000-Meter (30:19.45 – Bucknell Bison Classic), along with a fifth-ranked mark in the 1500-Meter (3:57.68). Summa was also the Northeast-10 Individual Champion in the 5,000 and 10,000-Meter this season.

Senior Nyjah Young-Bey (Montclair, N.J.) received recognition for a pair of performances this season, including the East Region's top finishing time in the 400-Meter (54.51 – NE10 Outdoor Championships). Her finishing time in the 400-Meter was good for NCAA Championship standards, and also crowned her the NE10 Champion for the respective event. Young-Bey also had a top-five mark in the region for the 200-Meter (24.75 – NE10 Championships).

Summa and Young-Bey, as holders of the East Region's top times in their respective events, were additionally named recipients of USTFCCCA Top Performer honors.

Four of the 15 total Franklin Pierce athletes are now multi-time recipients of All-East Region accolades from the U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
