Women’s Track & Field in Action at SNHU Last Chance Meet

MANCHESTER, N.H. (May 1, 2021) -- The Franklin Pierce University women's track & field program was in action on Saturday at the SNHU Last Chance Conference Qualifier, hosted by Southern New Hampshire University. The Ravens, who did not travel their full team, chalked up 88 points in the meet to finish third, out of four teams.

The host Penmen picked up the win with 231.5 points. Bentley finished second, with 125.5 points, while Saint Anselm rounded out the four-team field with 36 points. The meet represented the final chance for athletes to record qualifying marks for next week's Northeast-10 Conference Championships.

In the 100-meter dash, senior Alyssa Harris (Billerica, Mass.) took third for her 13.60-second finish. Sophomore Stephanie Manu (Boston, Mass.) claimed fourth for a 14.11-second finish. Manu doubled up and took first in the 200 meters, after her 28.26-second finish. In the 100-meter hurdles, freshman Fadima Kaba (Peabody, Mass.) took second for her 17.61-second time.

Junior Alena Masterson (Pelham, N.H.) finished second in the 800 meters for her 2:32 run. The 4x100-meter relay team took first for their 49.7-second time, with a lineup of freshman Angelique Coa, Harris, sophomore Destini Hill-Edwards (Paget, Bermuda) and sophomore Nyjah Young-Bey (Montclair, N.J.). The 4x400 team won as well after their 4:04 time, turned in by an order of Young-Bey to Hill-Edwards to junior Alana Thompson (Westampton, N.J.) to graduate student Bethaney Donnelly (Manchester, United Kingdom).

In the hammer, freshman Valeria Lamas (Fall River, Mass.) placed third with her 22.72-meter heave. Junior Jessica Brewster (Castleton, Vt.) took second for her 28.05-meter throw in the shot put.

The Ravens will be back in action next week at the NE10 Championships, which are slated for May 6-8 at American International College in Springfield, Mass.
